Equipment
- 1 Crockpot
- 1 baking sheet
Ingredients
- Nonstick Cooking Spray
- 2 lbs Bone-In Chicken Wings
- BBQ Rub, Generously, to taste
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 4 tbsp Butter, sliced
- ¾–1 cup BBQ Sauce
Instructions
- Lightly spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
- Add the chicken wings directly to the crock pot, spreading them out as evenly as possible.
- Season the wings generously with the barbecue rub, then sprinkle the flour over the top. Toss everything together until the wings are evenly coated with the seasoning and flour.
- Lay the sliced butter evenly over the top of the wings.
- Cover and cook depending on whether the wings are frozen or thawed. If using frozen wings, cook on LOW for 7 hours or HIGH for 4 hours. If using thawed wings, cook on LOW for 5 hours or HIGH for 3 hours, until the meat easily pulls away from the bone.
- Once cooked, taste and re-season the wings if needed.
- Transfer the wings to a baking sheet and brush or toss them with the barbecue sauce.
- Place the wings under the broiler for about 3 minutes, watching closely, until the sauce becomes sticky and the wings develop crispy edges.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot.
